The court has sentenced Irfan alias Jani, Babul, and Saurabh Mishra to life imprisonment in the Rishikesh Singh murder case. Additionally, a fine of Rs 90,000 has been imposed on each convict. The court delivered this judgment through Fast Track Court II.
Incident and Case
It is alleged that Rishikesh Singh alias Pintoo, a resident of Sirwara Road, Kotwali Nagar, died on February 9, 2008. It was stated that the convicts attacked Pintoo with a sword, country-made pistol, iron rod, stick, and cricket bat.
The deceased sustained a total of 23 injuries, 11 of which were fatal head injuries.
The alleged dispute behind this murder was said to be over playing cricket.
Prosecution, Arguments, and Verdict
Advocate Arvind Singh Raja represented the plaintiff, while the Criminal Department argued on behalf of the government.
After reviewing the arguments and evidence, the court found all three accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
One accused, Azad alias Noor Mohammad, was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
There were also two juvenile accused in this case; their matter is being heard by the Juvenile Justice Board.
Social Impact
Rakesh Singh, the elder brother of the deceased, stated that they had waited for this verdict after a long legal battle.
He expressed his faith in the court that justice would be served, and called today's date a great relief.
The fine imposed by the court will be given to the heirs of the deceased.
