Special Cell in New Delhi and Ranchi has arrested three suspected terrorists. They were found in possession of equipment for manufacturing chemical weapons. Investigations revealed that they were planning to attack religious sites.
New Delhi: Security agencies have taken a major step to counter the threat of terrorism in the capital Delhi and Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The Special Cell arrested three suspected terrorists on Wednesday. Two of these suspects were apprehended in Delhi and one in Ranchi. Chemical and digital equipment were recovered from the arrested terrorists, indicating their plan for a large-scale terrorist attack.
Terrorists Arrested in Delhi-Ranchi
The Special Cell and Jharkhand ATS jointly arrested Danish, a suspected ISIS-linked terrorist, at Tabarak Lodge in Ranchi at 5 AM on Wednesday. Simultaneously, Aftab and his associate were apprehended in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi. The identities of the arrested terrorists were confirmed during the investigation, and their history related to terrorism is being thoroughly examined.
Sources stated that this operation was conducted based on intelligence inputs. The objective of the security agencies was to prevent any potential terrorist attack in a timely manner. The operations in Ranchi and Delhi continued throughout the day, with the Special Cell conducting raids at 12 different locations.
Dangerous Equipment Found with Terrorists
Several dangerous items were recovered from the arrested terrorists. These included hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sodium bicarbonate, sulfur powder, a pH value checker, and ball bearings. Additionally, laptops, mobile phones, a weighing machine, a beaker set, safety gloves, and respiratory masks were also found.
Based on these materials, it is inferred that these terrorists were skilled in manufacturing chemical weapons. According to security agencies, they were planning attacks in Delhi-NCR and at religious sites during the upcoming festive season. The recovered equipment and chemicals corroborate their nefarious intentions.
Continuous Interrogation by Special Cell Ongoing
Special Cell teams are continuously interrogating these terrorists. Efforts are being made to gather information from Danish and Aftab regarding their links with ISIS and their upcoming plans. Furthermore, eight more suspects were taken into custody during the day's raids.
According to sources within the security agencies, all of them are linked to a sleeper module cell and were operating under the direction of external forces. The role of the other detained suspects is currently under investigation. The agencies' aim is to ensure that no potential terrorist attack occurs.
Significant Blow to Terrorist Network with Arrests
Senior officials of the Special Cell stated that this action has dealt a significant blow to the terrorist network. The arrested terrorists and recovered materials will aid in identifying several other suspects.
Security agencies have also urged the general public to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity immediately to the police or the Special Cell. Officials stated that at such times, public vigilance and cooperation are the greatest strengths in the fight against terrorism.
