Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Razzak Khan was shot dead in broad daylight on Thursday in the Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. The incident occurred when Razzak Khan was returning home from Chalat Beria; some unknown assailants ambushed him and opened fire. Razzak died on the spot from the gunshot wounds. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Tension has gripped the area following the incident, prompting the administration to deploy a large police force. Anger is clearly visible among TMC workers regarding the murder. Razzak Khan was considered close to local MLA Shaukat Molla and was an active figure in the party.
Murder Carried Out as a Political Conspiracy
Regarding the murder, Trinamool Congress MLA Shaukat Molla from Canning East has directly accused the Indian Secular Front (ISF) and its leader Naushad Siddiqui. He claimed that Razzak Khan was not only shot but also brutally beaten and then attacked with sharp weapons before being killed.
According to Shaukat Molla, Razzak was returning after attending two TMC meetings when he was ambushed and murdered. He alleged that the weakening hold of ISF in Bhangar has now resorted to violence. The MLA also raised the issue of political patronage given to anti-social elements active in the area.
Police Engaged in Investigation
Following this sensational murder, the police have initiated an investigation into the entire matter. Currently, the case is being viewed from both angles of political violence and personal enmity. Police officers have assured that the investigation is proceeding rapidly, and the perpetrators will be identified and face strict legal action soon.
Meanwhile, MLA Shaukat Molla has demanded that the administration arrest all those involved in this heinous crime and give them strict punishment so that an atmosphere of fear does not arise again in Bhangar and surrounding areas.
