Former President Trump has given theoretical approval to a military strike plan against Iran. The final order has been withheld to observe whether Iran is willing to abandon its nuclear program.
America Attack on Iran: Amidst ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, America's role is becoming increasingly decisive. Former US President Donald Trump has green-lit a military strike plan against Iran. However, he has temporarily withheld the final order to assess Iran's willingness to negotiate.
Strike or Negotiation?
According to reports from Reuters and the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump held a crucial meeting with his senior advisors, during which a serious discussion regarding military action against Iran took place. In this meeting, Trump theoretically approved the strike but stated that before issuing the final order, he wants to see if Iran is prepared to halt its nuclear program.
The report, citing three sources involved in the meeting, suggests that Trump hopes that if Iran perceives America's readiness for a strike, it will cease its nuclear program and come to the negotiating table.
Iran's Strong Response
In response to Trump's threats, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei unequivocally stated that Iran will never yield. He warned that if America attacks, it will suffer severe and irreparable damage. Khamenei stated, "The Iranian nation is not afraid of threats and will not surrender. If America attacks, it will receive a harsh response."
Division Among Trump's Supporters
Although Trump has approved the strike plan, there is no consensus within his own political faction. Several prominent Trump supporters, including former advisor Steve Bannon, oppose an attack on Iran. They do not want America to become entangled once again in a Middle Eastern conflict.
Bannon and other Trump supporters have advocated for an isolationist policy for America and believe that Israel should handle its military operations independently. According to reports, many supporters associated with the MAGA movement also oppose directly involving America in a war.
Discord Within the Republican Party
Disagreements are also evident within the Republican Party on this issue. Some leaders favor standing with Israel against Iran, while others are concerned that it could trap America in another lengthy and costly war. Trump himself has acknowledged that some supporters are displeased but remains firm in his stance that Iran cannot be allowed to become a nuclear power.
Netanyahu's Pressure
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's role is crucial in this situation. Netanyahu wants America to actively participate in his military campaign against Iran. He has requested that America target and completely destroy Iran's nuclear facilities.
The Israeli Air Force has already attacked key nuclear sites in Iran, such as Natanz, Isfahan, Karaj, and Fordo. Fordo is considered the most important because it is the main center for Iran's underground nuclear program. Israel claims it could not inflict significant damage on this site, hence the need for American military might.
Preparation of B2 Bombers and Bunker Buster Bombs
If Trump gives the final order for a strike, the US Air Force could utilize B2 bomber aircraft. These aircraft are capable of dropping a 30,000-pound 'bunker buster' bomb, which can destroy underground nuclear facilities. It is believed that this could be specifically used to target the Fordo nuclear plant.
