During a conversation with journalists at the White House on Friday, Trump clearly stated that he is constantly trying to end this war. He said that he wants Putin and Zelenskyy to sit face-to-face and find a way to end the war. Trump said that this war is taking the lives of about 7,000 people every week, most of whom are soldiers. He called stopping it a 'necessary and urgent step'.
'Stopped Seven Wars Before, But This is the Most Difficult'
Trump said that he had previously succeeded in stopping seven major wars during his tenure. But the Russia-Ukraine war is proving to be the most difficult for him. He said that there is a lack of sincerity towards peace talks on both sides. Trump warned that if Russia obstructs peace talks, he may impose a heavy tariff of 25 to 50 percent on Russian oil.
