The aim of this important meeting, taking place at the White House in Washington, is to explore ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Zelenskyy has brought European leaders with him to this meeting in order to present a united front to Trump.

Upon arriving at the White House, Trump personally welcomed Zelenskyy, after which bilateral talks took place between the two leaders. During the meeting, both issued several statements regarding efforts to end the war and discussed the possibilities of restoring peace.

Zelenskyy's Big Statement: Ready for Elections and Negotiations

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is hopeful that this discussion will lead to a lasting path to peace. He said, "We are not just talking about two years of peace, but are trying for a long-term solution." Trump also said that he would speak with Russian President Putin after meeting with European leaders and Zelenskyy at the White House.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy said that he is ready for direct negotiations with Putin. He said that if a peace agreement is reached, he is fully prepared to hold elections in Ukraine. However, he also clarified that elections can only be held in a safe environment. "Yes, absolutely, I am ready to hold elections. But for this, we need a guarantee of security."

Trump's Confidence in Ending the War

Trump said at the meeting that both Russia and Ukraine want to end this war. He claimed that the world is tired of this conflict and a solution should be found soon. Trump said, "The war is going to end. I cannot tell you when it will end, but this war will end. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin both want peace. I believe we will end it."

Trump further said that he has ended several wars in his tenure before, and he hopes that this conflict will also end, even if it is not the easiest war. Citing examples of prolonged conflicts such as in Rwanda and Congo, he said that the Russia-Ukraine war is complex, but a solution will definitely be found.
