New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has granted a significant financial gift to railway employees. Under this decision, more than 10.91 lakh railway employees across the country will be paid ₹1,865.68 crore as a 78-day Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB). This decision is expected to provide financial benefits to railway employees, along with improving their performance and efficiency.
Details of the Union Cabinet's Decision
On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet made six major decisions and allocated a total of ₹94,916 crore. Among these, a significant decision pertained to the bonus for railway employees. The 78-day PLB is paid annually before the Durga Puja/Dussehra holidays.
This year too, approximately 10.91 lakh non-gazetted railway employees will receive a PLB amount equivalent to 78 days of their wages. For each eligible employee, this amount can be up to a maximum of ₹17,951.

The PLB is paid to improve the performance of railway employees and to motivate them. It provides financial incentives to employees in line with their productivity and efficiency.

Which Employees Will Receive Payment
This bonus will benefit employees across various categories of railways. These include Track Maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group 'C' employees.

Other Cabinet Allocations
In addition to the bonus for railway employees, the Union Cabinet has approved a payment of ₹2,192 crore for the Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaya railway line. This project will strengthen the railway network in Bihar and surrounding areas, improving facilities for passenger and freight transport.
An allocation of ₹3,822 crore has been made for the construction of a four-lane road from Bettiah in Bihar to Sahibganj in Jharkhand. This will make road transport smoother and safer.
Furthermore, ₹69,725 crore has been disbursed for shipbuilding and maritime development. This step will boost the country's marine industry and shipping sector.
