The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has launched an ambitious scheme for farmers. The state government aims to ensure the registration of over 2.88 crore farmers in the state. For this, a special campaign will be conducted throughout the state from September 16.
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that it will launch a state-wide campaign from September 16 to ensure 100 percent farmer registration. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, District Magistrates will conduct daily reviews of the campaign's progress. The government has clarified that instructions have been issued to the Revenue Department to release SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to rectify land ownership records in accordance with Aadhaar, ensuring that farmers do not face any difficulties in registration.
The state government aims to register 2.88 crore farmers. So far, approximately 1.45 crore farmers (more than 50% of the total target) have been registered.
Target of 100 Percent Registration
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given clear instructions to officials that the registration of every farmer must be completed before the next installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme is released. This is why the campaign will be monitored directly at the level of District Magistrates (DMs). The District Magistrates will review the campaign daily and send progress reports to the government.
The Revenue Department has also been activated. The department has instructed all revenue officials to issue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to rectify farmers' land ownership records in accordance with Aadhaar. This will ensure that farmers can avail the benefits of the schemes without any hindrance.
Districts Leading in Registration
According to the government, several districts are currently performing excellently in the registration campaign.
- Bijnor – Over 58% registration
- Hardoi – 57.84%
- Shravasti – 57.47%
- Pilibhit – 56.89%
- Rampur – 56.72%
These districts are among the top five in the state, where farmers have shown the most enthusiasm.
Verification Process Also Expedited
The government has also clarified that the verification of certificates of farmers who have not yet been included in the registration process is being done at the local level. Several districts have recorded commendable progress in this regard.
- Amroha
- Azamgarh
- Balrampur
- Etah
- Jaunpur
In these districts, 100 percent verification work has already been completed.
Government's Strategy for Farmers
The state government has taken several steps to accelerate the registration process:
- Extensive IEC Campaign – District Magistrates have been instructed to further intensify Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities so that more and more farmers can join the registration process.
- Focus on Backward Districts – A special strategy will be adopted for areas where the registration rate is still low. Ground-level officials from the Revenue and Agriculture departments will contact farmers by visiting villages.
- Digital Record Improvement – Aadhaar-linked land ownership records will increase transparency and ensure that farmers receive the benefits of the schemes directly in their bank accounts in the future.
This campaign is directly linked to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan). Under this scheme, every eligible farmer is given financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per annum. This amount is sent directly to the farmers' bank accounts in three installments.
