UPI 3.0: Revolutionizing Digital Payments with IoT Integration

UPI 3.0 is expected to launch soon, enabling digital payments from devices such as smart TVs, refrigerators, and cars. NPCI will add features like UPI AutoPay and UPI Circle in this upgrade. This will provide users with a new experience of conducting transactions securely and smartly, without relying on their phones.

UPI 3.0 Update: NPCI, the organization that regulates digital payments in India, is soon to introduce a major upgrade to UPI. According to reports, the announcement of UPI 3.0 may take place at the Global Fintech Fest in October 2025. Under this new version, payments will be possible not only from mobile phones but also from smart TVs, refrigerators, cars, and other IoT devices. The upgrade will include features like UPI AutoPay and UPI Circle, which will make transactions even easier, more secure, and smarter.

Smart TVs, Refrigerators, and Cars to Become Payment Devices

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is preparing to launch UPI 3.0 soon. After this upgrade, not only smartphones but also your home's smart devices like smart TVs, refrigerators, cars, and washing machines will be capable of making UPI payments. This change will connect UPI to the IoT (Internet of Things), proving to be a move that will make digital payments smarter and more convenient.

What's New in UPI 3.0?

The biggest feature of UPI 3.0 is payment through IoT devices. This means that machines used in everyday life will not only handle data but also payments through the internet. In this way, dependence on mobile phones for payments will be greatly reduced.
Along with this, features like UPI AutoPay and UPI Circle will also be added in this upgrade. Through these, your smart devices will be able to make payments themselves when needed. For example—the refrigerator can order milk or the car can pay toll tax automatically.

Emphasis on Security and Limit Control

Keeping users' trust in mind, the payment limit feature will also be provided in UPI 3.0. This means that you will be able to set a limit on transactions made from your smart devices. This will ensure that no device can automatically make payments beyond your set limit. Experts believe that this feature will help users adopt new technology and also increase confidence regarding security.

When Will It Launch?

So far, NPCI has not announced the official launch date of UPI 3.0. But according to reports, its announcement may take place by October at the Global Fintech Fest 2025. It is believed that after this, India will take a new leap in the field of digital payments and will give UPI an even ber identity around the world.
