In Uttar Pradesh, weather conditions have begun to change amid intense heat, with the India Meteorological Department issuing an alert for thunderstorms and rainfall in 16 districts and a heatwave warning for 34 districts. Weather fluctuations may continue during the Nautapa period.
According to the India Meteorological Department, b winds, dust storms, and light to moderate rainfall are likely in the coming days. As a result, temperatures may fall by up to 8 degrees Celsius, offering the possibility of relief from extreme heat.
However, the weather department has also stated that heatwave conditions are expected to persist in several districts. Intense sunlight and hot winds during daytime may continue to affect residents, with advice issued to avoid going outdoors, particularly during afternoon hours.
Humidity and high temperatures continue to affect Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, and several cities in western Uttar Pradesh. In some districts, cloud cover and b winds are expected during evening hours.
Nautapa generally brings intense heat, but this year temperature fluctuations are being observed due to western disturbances and changing weather systems. Weather experts said the change may provide temporary relief.
The health department has advised people to take precautions against heatwave conditions. Doctors said dehydration, heat stroke, and weakness may increase during periods of extreme heat.
Experts advised people to drink more water, wear light clothing, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Special caution has been advised for children and older adults.
The impact of rising temperatures is also being seen on electricity supply in several districts. Complaints of local faults and tripping have been reported amid increasing electricity demand, while power department teams are engaged in repair work.
The disaster management department has urged people to stay away from trees and electric poles during adverse weather conditions. People have also been advised not to remain in open areas during thunderstorms and lightning.
Discussions around weather conditions have intensified on social media, with posts showing people affected by the heat and videos of dust storms and rainfall circulating online.
Experts said changing climate patterns are causing rapid shifts in weather behaviour. While Nautapa earlier saw prolonged periods of extreme heat, intermittent rainfall and dust storms are now being observed.
The India Meteorological Department has urged people to monitor weather updates and follow advisories issued by authorities.
