The film 'Udaipur Files,' based on the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, is once again in the news. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the film's release, expressing concerns about potential disruption of religious harmony and seeking a stay on the film. However, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has bly objected to this petition and leveled harsh accusations against Jamiat. The council asserts that 'Udaipur Files' is not just a film, but a means of bringing the truth to light, which should not be suppressed under any circumstances.
The atmosphere was not disrupted by Kashmir Files and Kerala Story
Reacting sharply to Jamiat's petition, VHP national spokesperson Amitosh Parik said that when films like 'Kashmir Files,' 'The Kerala Story,' and 'Sabarmati Report' presented the truth to the nation, no one claimed that the atmosphere was deteriorating. So, why this fear regarding 'Udaipur Files'? He further stated that films are a mirror of society and their purpose is to make people aware of reality.
Parik clearly stated that if there is a jihadi ideology behind Kanhaiya Lal's murder and the film is exposing that truth, then who is troubled by it and why? If the truth is coming out, is it pricking? Is this the reason for Jamiat's objection? – the spokesperson questioned.
Jamiat has always defended terrorists
In a statement, the VHP launched a major attack on Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, alleging that this organization has been providing legal aid to the accused in several terrorist cases. The council's spokesperson claimed that Jamiat repeatedly defends terrorists and now the same organization wants to stop the release of a film because it is exposing the face of fundamentalism that Jamiat wants to hide.
Parik also said that 'Udaipur Files' depicts how Kanhaiya Lal was brutally murdered in the name of religion, his video was recorded and made viral to create an atmosphere of fear and terror. This is not a fictional story, but a presentation of the truth that every citizen of the country has the right to know, he said.
Jamiat is running away from the truth
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has appealed to the Supreme Court to dismiss Jamiat's petition and release 'Udaipur Files' without any restriction. The council has also accused Jamiat of promoting slogans like 'Sar Tan Se Juda' and a fundamentalist mindset.
The VHP says that this film is not showing any inflammatory content, but is presenting the facts of a real incident. If making society aware is a crime, then we will also have to question our freedom of expression, the council said.
