WhatsApp has launched an AI-powered support chat for iOS users, making 24x7 instant assistance easier.

Meta has introduced a new and smart feature for iOS users, where users will receive AI-powered responses directly through the WhatsApp support chat. This feature not only makes support faster but also makes the chatting experience more seamless and user-friendly.

What is the new feature?

WhatsApp has now launched a dedicated support chat feature on iOS devices, where users can contact WhatsApp support regarding any technical or account-related issues. In this new support chat, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will answer questions instead of humans, and it is capable of providing instant answers.

Support will be available with the 'Meta Verified' blue tick

When this feature is active in a user's account, they will get the option to start this support chat by going to WhatsApp Settings > Help > Help Center > Contact Us. This chat starts with a 'Meta Verified' blue checkmark, which makes it easier for users to ensure that they are talking to official WhatsApp support.

How will AI help?

In the WhatsApp support chat, AI will understand questions asked by users in natural language and will try to give clear answers in the same language. For example, if you ask, 'Why is my number blocked?' the AI will give a technical and user-friendly answer. Furthermore, users can also send screenshots in the chat, which will help the AI understand their issue better. With every answer, it will also be indicated that the answer has been generated by AI.

24x7 availability, but limited human assistance

While AI is available 24 hours a day and is capable of providing instant answers, human assistance is currently limited. According to a report by Gadgets 360, if users request human support, they receive an automated message stating that human assistance will be provided 'when needed.' This makes it clear that the company is using AI as the first line of support, and human intervention will only be available in serious or complex cases.

Privacy and Transparency

WhatsApp has made every effort to maintain transparency in this feature. When starting the support chat, a message informs the user that the answers will be generated by AI and that these answers may contain some errors or inappropriate content. Also, an AI tag and timestamp are present below every AI answer.

When will this feature come for Android users?

Currently, this feature is only available for iOS users, but according to reports from WABetaInfo and Gadgets 360, this feature is in testing in the Android beta version of WhatsApp. This feature may be released on the Android platform soon. This means that all WhatsApp users will be able to benefit from this smart support in the future.

Meta also recently announced that it is launching a new AI chatbot for businesses, which will help users by giving product suggestions. This means that WhatsApp is not only working on technical assistance but also on improving the AI-based customer experience for its customers.
