New Delhi: The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi is continuously rising, leading to a flood-like situation in many areas of the capital. Water has reached the Yamuna Bank Metro Station, prompting DMRC to advise passengers to exercise caution and use alternative routes. However, the metro station remains operational, and the interchange facility will also be available.
Flood-like Conditions Around Yamuna Bank Metro Station
Due to the waterlogged conditions, the routes leading to the station are filled with water. Officials have appealed to passengers to plan their travel using alternative routes and try to reach the station on time.
According to local authorities, the roads and footpaths surrounding the Yamuna Bank Metro Station are submerged in water. Despite the interchange facility being operational, direct access has become difficult for safety reasons.
Weather Affects Air Travel Too
Continuous rainfall in Delhi and the overflowing Yamuna River have also impacted air services. SpiceJet airline has advised passengers to check the status of their flights and stay updated.
SpiceJet stated that delays or changes in all flights departing from and arriving at Delhi (DEL) are possible due to adverse weather conditions. Passengers have been advised to get the latest information through the airline's website or mobile app.
Yamuna River Water Level Continues to Rise
According to officials, the water level of the Yamuna at the Old Railway Bridge in Delhi was recorded at 207.48 meters at 7 AM. The water level steadily increased from night to morning. The overflowing Yamuna waters have continuously entered the surrounding low-lying areas.
Specifically, the Secretariat area and the regions around Vasudev Ghat have been affected by the floods. The water reaching Shri Marghat Wale Hanuman Baba Mandir near Kashmiri Gate has increased the concern for both the local public and the administration.
DMRC Issues Advisory for Passengers
DMRC has issued an advisory keeping in mind the safety of passengers. Officials stated that the station will remain operational, but it is essential to travel cautiously due to the waterlogged routes.
The local administration has also intensified surveillance and relief operations in the flood-affected areas. Police and local authority teams are on alert and prepared for any potential emergency.
