Following Tejashwi Yadav's statement on the Waqf Act, the BJP launched a sharp counterattack. Gaurav Bhatia labeled Tejashwi a "Maulana" and said those who talk about Sharia should go to Pakistan.
Bihar News: Political rhetoric is intensifying in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a sharp counterattack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav's statement at a rally in Patna against the Waqf Amendment Act. The BJP has accused Tejashwi Yadav of trying to make the country an Islamic nation and targeted him by calling him a "Maulana."
What is the matter?
Tejashwi Yadav, at a rally in Patna's Gandhi Maidan, organized under the banner "Save Waqf, Save Constitution," opposed the central government's Waqf Act, calling it against the constitution. He said that if the opposition alliance forms a government in Bihar, they would not implement this law in the state and would throw it in the trash. It is this statement that has drawn a b reaction from the BJP.
Gaurav Bhatia's counterattack
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia targeted Tejashwi Yadav in a press conference on Monday. He said that this country is run by the constitution, not by Sharia law. Gaurav Bhatia said, "Maulana Tejashwi Yadav does not understand the constitution. He wants to implement Sharia law. His intention is to make the country an Islamic nation. But India is a secular nation and will remain so."
'Those who support Sharia should go to Pakistan' - BJP
Gaurav Bhatia, supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said, "The Prime Minister will definitely come during the election campaign in Bihar, but those who talk about Sharia should go to Pakistan. Sharia law was openly advocated on the stage that Tejashwi Yadav shared. This is against democracy."
Called Tejashwi a 'ninth-grade dropout'
The BJP spokesperson also questioned Tejashwi Yadav's educational qualifications. He said, "The ninth-grade dropout former Deputy Chief Minister is talking about throwing a law passed by the Parliament of India in the trash. This clearly shows that Tejashwi Yadav does not respect the constitution. His thinking reflects religious laws instead of democracy."
Allegation of 'communal politics' against Lalu-Tejashwi
Bhatia, accusing both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, said that the RJD's politics has always been about polarizing votes in the name of Hindus and Muslims. He said, "For us, Baba Saheb Ambedkar and his constitution are venerable, but the RJD's politics is based on religious division. They are trying to divide people on the basis of religion."
What Tejashwi Yadav said
Tejashwi Yadav had said at a rally held in Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday that if the Mahagathbandhan government is formed in Bihar, the central government's Waqf Act will not be implemented in the state. He also said that the BJP-led central government wants to seize the properties of Muslims and is weakening the constitution.
