22 Naxalites Killed in Chhattisgarh Encounter

Chhattisgarh Encounter: A fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Bijapur and Kanker districts of Chhattisgarh resulted in the death of 22 Naxalites. In Bijapur, an encounter between police and Naxalites led to the recovery of 18 bodies and a large cache of weapons and ammunition. Four more Naxalites were killed in Kanker. One security personnel from Bijapur was martyred in the encounter. The encounter is ongoing, and security forces have intensified search operations.

Cause and Sequence of Events

The encounter began when a joint team of security forces launched an anti-Naxal operation in the Gangalur area of Bijapur district, located on the border of Bijapur and Dantewada districts. Police reported intermittent firing between the two sides. Security forces maintained a zero-tolerance policy against the Naxalites during the encounter.

Amit Shah's Statement

Following the encounter, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated in a post that the Modi government is taking b action against Naxalites. He said, "Despite offering all facilities for surrender and integration, the government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy against those Naxalites who are not surrendering."

Recovery of Weapons and Ammunition

Police recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition along with the 18 bodies. Automatic weapons were also found at the encounter site.

Previous Naxalite Deaths in Encounters

Earlier, an encounter between security forces and Naxalites on the border of Bijapur and Narayanpur with Maharashtra resulted in the death of 31 Naxalites. The number of Naxalites killed in this recent encounter may increase.

Two Security Personnel Injured

Two security personnel were injured in this encounter and have been hospitalized. Security forces are continuously conducting b action against the Naxalites, and search operations are ongoing in the area.
