Patna: Deepak Sihag, Secretary of the Gannaur Market Committee in Sonipat, has been suspended with immediate effect by the Haryana government. Sihag faces serious allegations of corruption and defiance of the Agriculture Minister's orders. Following the suspension, the ongoing investigation against him has been expedited. Sources suggest Sihag is accused of misusing his position, committing irregularities, and failing to comply with government directives. Given the seriousness of the matter, the government has taken this firm action.

What is the matter?

Gaurav Jain, owner of the Shri Chand Pramod Jain firm located in the Gannaur grain market, complained to the Agriculture Minister that he was being denied the allocation of a shop in the new grain market. The Minister, taking cognizance of the complaint, ordered Secretary Deepak Sihag to allocate a shop. The complaint alleged that despite the Minister's order, Sihag refused to allocate the shop and demanded a bribe. Gaurav Jain contacted the Agriculture Minister again, informing him of the entire incident.

Strict Action Taken

The Agriculture Minister immediately ordered Sihag's suspension and directed a thorough investigation into the corruption allegations. Sihag has also been attached to the headquarters in Panchkula. He will now require permission from senior officials to leave the headquarters. The Haryana government has clearly signaled its b stance against corruption. Honesty and transparency are expected from officials holding positions such as Market Committee Secretary. The government's swift action serves as a warning to other officials.
