UP News: Uttar Pradesh has achieved remarkable success in the Atal Pension Yojana. The state has secured the top position in the scheme for the first time, enrolling over 1.20 crore people. This scheme provides financial security to individuals in the unorganized sector after retirement.
Atal Pension Yojana: A Robust Social Security Scheme
The Indian government's Atal Pension Yojana aims to provide regular pensions to working citizens in the unorganized sector after retirement. Individuals aged 18 to 40 can enroll in this scheme and receive a monthly pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 after retirement.
Uttar Pradesh's Outstanding Performance
Uttar Pradesh demonstrated an outstanding performance in the Atal Pension Yojana during the previous fiscal year, with 21.49 lakh new enrollments. This exceeded the target of 15.83 lakh, representing a significant achievement. In recognition of this success, the Uttar Pradesh State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) was awarded the "Award of Ultimate Leadership".
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Initiative
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a vigorous campaign to implement this scheme extensively. The highest number of enrollments have been recorded in major cities across the state, including Prayagraj, Lucknow, Bareilly, Fatehpur, and Kanpur. This initiative by Chief Minister Yogi is proving to be a boon for those working in the unorganized sector who lack a stable income source after retirement.
How to Avail the Benefits of Atal Pension Yojana?
To benefit from the Atal Pension Yojana, you need to open a bank account. Subsequently, a predetermined amount needs to be deposited monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly, which will be automatically deducted from your bank account.
This scheme is being operated with the cooperation of more than 60 stakeholders, prominently including eight lead banks.
