Outsourcing employees working in Bihar's Education Department may face job losses after March 31, 2025. The department has decided to terminate the services of all temporary outsourced personnel.
Patna: Bihar's Education Department has decided to terminate the services of thousands of outsourcing employees after March 31, 2025. This decision jeopardizes the jobs of employees working in positions such as DPM, ICT personnel, programmers, BPMs, resource persons, account assistants, and MTS. According to a letter issued by the Jamui District Education Officer, Rajesh Kumar, these employees will not be employed after March 31st. The department had previously removed several outsourced employees at the block level. Employee organizations have protested this decision and urged the government to reconsider.
Who will be affected?
This decision will not affect government teachers and permanent employees. However, those employed through outsourcing will be relieved of their duties after March 31st. The department has clarified that if any employee remains in service after this date, the concerned officer will be fully responsible for their salary.
Previous Terminations
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time the Education Department has decided to terminate the services of outsourcing employees. Previously, several employees at the block level were removed. This policy was implemented during the tenure of the then Additional Chief Secretary, KK Pathak, under which employees were retained in service until March 31, 2025.
Unemployment Crisis, Pressure on the Government
The Education Department's decision has caused outrage and anxiety among thousands of employees. Employee organizations have demanded that the government reconsider its decision. They argue that removing such a large number of employees without any alternative arrangement is unjust. It remains to be seen whether the government will uphold this decision or take a new course of action in light of the opposition. Currently, this issue is a subject of discussion in the Education Department and political circles.
