Pakistan cricket team superstar batsman, Babar Azam, once again showcased his batting prowess. In the first match of the three-ODI series against New Zealand, Babar scored a magnificent half-century, achieving a significant milestone.

Sports News: The first match of the three-ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand is being played at McLean Park in Napier. Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that proved to be incorrect. New Zealand's batsmen put up a stellar performance, posting a massive score of 344 runs. Mark Chapman played a crucial role in this substantial total, smashing a blistering 132 runs. Chapman thoroughly dominated the Pakistani bowlers, achieving his century off 111 balls with the help of 13 fours and 6 sixes.

Historic Half-Century Creates a New Milestone

In the first ODI against New Zealand, Babar Azam played a superb innings of 78 runs off 83 balls. During his innings, he hit five fours and three sixes. His innings ended when he was dismissed by William O'Rourke. Upon completing his half-century, Babar reached 55 fifty-plus scores in ODIs. This achievement puts him on par with Pakistan's legendary batsman, Younis Khan.

The record for the most fifty-plus scores in ODIs for Pakistan is held by Inzamam-ul-Haq, who achieved this feat 93 times. He is followed by Mohammad Yousuf (72), Saeed Anwar (68), Shoaib Malik (59), and now Babar Azam and Younis Khan jointly at 55 fifty-plus scores, placing them fifth on the list.
