A fierce encounter is underway between security forces and Naxalites on the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh. This operation is aimed at eliminating Naxalites hiding in the forests.
Raipur: An encounter between police and Naxalites is ongoing in the forests on the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh. Security forces have surrounded the Naxalites, and so far, three Naxalite bodies have been recovered. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition has also been found at the encounter site. Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav stated that a security force team was on an anti-Naxal operation when they encountered the Naxalites, leading to the clash. The operation is currently ongoing, and detailed information will be shared later.
Major Security Forces Operation
Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav informed that police received intelligence inputs about Naxalite activity in the area. Following this, security forces launched a large-scale anti-Naxal operation. Over 500 personnel took positions in the forests and surrounded the Naxalites. The encounter is still ongoing, and it is believed that several more Naxalites may be killed in this operation.
Heavy firing is taking place from both sides during the encounter. Sources suggest that some senior commanders may be among the Naxalites killed. Security forces are carrying out the operation with utmost caution to prevent the Naxalites from escaping.
Major Operation on March 20
Earlier, on March 20, security forces eliminated 30 Naxalites in two separate encounters in Bijapur and Kanker districts. During this, brave District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan Raju Oyam made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Security forces have cordoned off the encounter site, and further action is underway. Additional forces have also been deployed to prevent any further Naxalite activity. This operation is considered the largest operation so far and may inflict significant damage on Naxalite groups.
