The 420th martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, was observed with devotion and श्रद्धा at the Gurdwara in Bihar Sharif. Special religious programmes were organised on the occasion, with a large number of devotees participating.
Gurbani recitations and kirtan began at the Gurdwara from the morning. Ragi jathas presented the life of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, his sacrifice and dedication to humanity through hymns and shabads. The premises remained filled with chants of “Wahe Guru” and the recitation of Gurbani throughout the programme.
During the religious gathering, speakers highlighted the life of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and said that he made the supreme sacrifice for the protection of truth, service and humanity. They stated that his life continues to inspire people towards patience, tolerance and selfless service.
Devotees attending the programme paid tribute to Guru Arjan Dev Ji and resolved to adopt the message of brotherhood and service to humanity in society. A langar was organised afterwards, where people from all religions and communities sat together and partook of the prasad.
Members of the Gurdwara Management Committee said that special programmes are organised every year on the occasion of the martyrdom day. They added that a large number of devotees attended this year’s event as well, and a message was conveyed to follow the path shown by Guru Sahib.
The programme concluded in a peaceful and devotional atmosphere. Special arrangements for security and other facilities were made within the Gurdwara premises to ensure that devotees did not face any inconvenience.
