A burglary worth approximately Rs 33.70 lakh was reported from a locked house in Bihar's Nalanda district. The incident occurred under the Ben police station area, where gold and silver jewellery and cash were allegedly stolen from the residence of an aluminium factory operator.
The incident came to light on Friday morning when neighbours noticed that the main door lock of the house had been broken. They immediately informed the homeowner. Upon reaching the house, the owner found belongings scattered inside, while the locks of cupboards and lockers had been broken.
According to preliminary information, the thieves entered the house late at night after breaking the main door lock. They allegedly searched the entire house and fled with gold and silver jewellery, cash, and other valuables worth about Rs 33.70 lakh kept in the cupboards. The theft is suspected to have been carried out in a planned manner.
After receiving information about the incident, Ben police reached the spot and began an investigation. Police have questioned people living in the vicinity and are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the suspects.
Police officials said that some important clues have been found at the scene and the investigation is progressing on that basis. A forensic team has also been called to collect evidence from the site. Police have stated that the case is expected to be solved soon.
Following the incident, local residents have expressed concern over security in the area. Residents said incidents of theft have increased in recent days and demanded increased police patrolling and ber night-time security arrangements.
Police are continuing their investigation. The exact value of the stolen property and the number of individuals involved in the theft will be determined after the investigation is completed.
