Aamir Khan Rejects ₹125 Crore OTT Deal for 'Stars on Earth,' Prioritizes Theatrical Release

Aamir Khan demonstrated his loyalty to theaters by rejecting a ₹125 crore OTT deal. He believes the true magic of cinema lies in the theatrical experience.

Aamir Khan: Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, is once again in the headlines for his b and principled decision. This time, it concerns his upcoming film, 'Stars on Earth'. Recently, on India TV's popular show 'Aap Ki Adalat', Aamir Khan made a significant revelation regarding the film's OTT release, evoking emotional responses from his fans and sparking a new debate within the industry.

Aamir Khan Rejects a ₹125 Crore Deal

During the show, Aamir Khan revealed that he had been offered lucrative deals for 'Stars on Earth' from OTT platforms, starting at ₹60 crore and escalating to a whopping ₹125 crore. However, he completely rejected the offer. Aamir clarified that he couldn't betray theaters.

He stated, "I'm not against OTT releases, but making a film available at home immediately after its theatrical release is killing the theater culture. If we tell the audience that they can watch it at home if they don't come to the theaters, then why would anyone go to a cinema hall?"

Illustrating His Point with a 'Glass' Analogy

During the show, Aamir Khan used a compelling analogy with a glass: "Suppose I tell you to buy this glass from me. But if you don't buy it, I'll drop it off at your house after 8 weeks. Why would you buy it then? This is what's happening with our films. People say they'll watch it on OTT after 6-8 weeks, so why go to the theater?"

This example highlighted how the short OTT release window threatens the existence of cinemas.

Aamir's Career Built on Cinemas

Aamir Khan explained that he owes his current success significantly to cinemas. He said, "I'm a huge loyalist of theaters. My entire life, my career, my identity, has been shaped by these cinema halls. I would never want to harm the system that made me a star."

Hope from the Audience, Not OTT

However, Aamir Khan also clarified that he has no animosity towards OTT platforms. He stated that he wants his film to be released on OTT after at least 6 months, but the premiere will not be on OTT.

Aamir confidently stated, "I know that my audience still trusts me. If the film is genuine, honest, people will come to the theaters. And with the effort we've put into making this film, I'm sure it will reap its rewards from the theaters."

'Stars on Earth's Message: Celebrate, Don't Hide

'Stars on Earth' is not only another sensitive film from Aamir but is also based on the important topic of autism. He explained that the film aims to convey the message to society that, "Instead of hiding children's special characteristics, one should be proud of them."

Aamir Khan said, "We want that after watching this film, parents should not hide their special children, but openly accept them and proudly say that this is our child. This film is not just entertainment, it's the beginning of a social change."

Warmly Received on 'Aap Ki Adalat'

When the show's host, Rajat Sharma, questioned Aamir Khan about his decision, the actor responded with clarity and humility. The audience applauded his words, and social media widely praised his simplicity and loyalty to theaters.
