Dense cloud cover persisted over Agra from Wednesday morning, bringing cooler winds and reducing the heat and humidity experienced over the past several days. According to the India Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is likely at several locations during the day. If rainfall occurs, temperatures may decline further.
The weather department has forecast that monsoon conditions will remain active in Agra and surrounding areas for the next six days. Intermittent rainfall is expected during this period, with the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rain at some locations. Residents have been advised to plan travel according to prevailing weather conditions.
The city's maximum temperature is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius today, while the minimum temperature may remain slightly below normal. Persistent cloud cover is expected to limit b sunshine, resulting in comparatively pleasant weather throughout the day.
In view of the possibility of rainfall, the Municipal Corporation and related departments have been instructed to closely monitor waterlogging-prone areas. Low-lying parts of the city have continued to experience water accumulation even after light rainfall. Efforts are being made to maintain proper drainage systems in these areas to minimise inconvenience to residents.
Agricultural experts believe the rainfall could benefit kharif crops. Adequate soil moisture is expected to support paddy, pearl millet, maize and other seasonal crops. However, they cautioned that continuous heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging in fields and potential crop damage. Farmers have been advised to monitor the latest weather department updates.
Health experts have also advised people to take precautions during the changing weather. They have urged residents to avoid getting drenched in the rain, drink clean water, and take special care of children and elderly people. Increased humidity may also raise the risk of viral fever, the common cold and mosquito-borne diseases.
According to the weather department, monsoon activity is expected to continue in the coming days. If a new weather system develops over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions, rainfall intensity could increase further. For now, Agra is expected to experience cloudy skies, intermittent rainfall and comparatively pleasant weather over the next six days.
