A case has been reported in Gorakhpur in which the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Flood Division was allegedly assaulted inside his office. The attackers, who were allegedly wearing black helmets, are accused of misbehaving with the officer and slapping him. The incident came into focus after a video of the assault went viral on social media.
According to the information available, the Executive Engineer was present in his office when several individuals entered the premises. An argument reportedly began over an unspecified issue, and the dispute quickly escalated. The accused allegedly assaulted the officer before fleeing the scene. Eyewitnesses said the entire incident lasted only a few minutes.
Following the emergence of the video, the administration and police initiated action. Police have registered an FIR against six people and are identifying the accused based on the viral video and other available evidence.
Police officials said all aspects of the incident are being investigated. CCTV footage from the office is also being examined to establish the identity and movements of the attackers. They said action would also be taken against any additional individuals if their involvement is established during the investigation.
The incident has led to anger among government officials and employees, who have demanded ber security arrangements at government offices and strict action against those responsible.
