Ahmedabad School Stabbing: 8th Grader Kills 10th Grader, Mob Vandalizes School

In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, an 8th-grade student fatally stabbed a 10th-grade student. Enraged by the incident, locals vandalized the school and blocked the road. Police and administration deployed a large security force to try and control the situation.

Crime News: A minor dispute escalated into a dangerous incident at Seventh-Day School in the Khokhra area of Ahmedabad on Tuesday (August 19th), when an 8th-grade student stabbed a 10th-grade student. The critically injured student was taken to a private hospital, where he died. Following the incident, an angry mob vandalized the school and blocked the road. Police brought the situation under control by deploying a large security force.

Deadly Incident Stemmed from a Minor Argument

According to reports, the dispute began with a minor scuffle. Initially, it seemed like a simple argument, but the 8th-grade student's anger escalated, and he pulled out a knife and attacked the 10th-grade student outside the school. The attack was so severe that the injured student succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Immediately after the incident, chaos erupted in the area. A large number of people gathered outside the school and, in their anger, damaged school property.

Mob Vandalized the School

Upon receiving information about the incident, angry people reached the school. The mob entered the school and attacked whatever came in their way. Parked buses, motorcycles, and cars were targeted by the mob. School doors were broken, windows were smashed, and other property was damaged.

The mob also attacked the school principal and other staff members. Despite the presence of the police, people continued to engage in violence inside the school. The situation was so serious that the police had to resort to lathi-charge (baton charge) several times.

Road Blockade and Protest

In protest of the murder, local residents blocked the road outside the school. The mob also tried to damage police vehicles.

Meanwhile, the MLA from Maninagar, DCP Baldev Desai, and ACP reached the spot. During this time, workers from Bajrang Dal, VHP, and ABVP, wearing saffron scarves, arrived at the school chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Approximately 2,000 people gathered outside the school and began protesting against the police.

Tense Atmosphere, Heavy Security Force Deployed

Security has been tightened throughout the area following the incident. Police have deployed a large force to control the situation. The crowd was continuously chanting slogans against the police.

Workers from Bajrang Dal, VHP, and ABVP went to the school to register their protest. People were constantly chanting slogans like ‘Police Hai-Hai’ (Shame on Police) and ‘Nyay Chahiye’ (We want justice). Police conducted several rounds of lathi-charge to control the situation and attempted to disperse the crowd.

Administration and Police Response

Police stated that a full investigation into the incident is underway. Strict action will be taken against the culprits. Police have increased surveillance in and around the school.

A police officer stated that the dispute started with a minor quarrel, but the anger and tension of the students from both sides turned it into a violent form. The administration has increased security at the school, and access to the premises is being controlled.
