Allahabad HC Dismisses Plea Challenging Rectification of Deoria Shrine's Revenue Records
Last Updated: 3 hour ago

Deoria: An important news — The Allahabad High Court has dismissed the petition filed by Abdul Gani Shah Sharif, in which he was challenging the rectification (correction) of the 'mazaar' (shrine) and graveyard in the revenue records.

Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal clearly stated that the court deems it essential to first allow the opportunity to respond to the authorities' process and notices. Direct intervention should not be undertaken.

The petitioner argued that this matter pertains to the list of Waqf properties and should not be meddled with under the procedures of revenue law. The court rejected this contention, stating that it cannot intervene in this dispute at present.

This case is significant because in 1993, this 'mazaar' and graveyard were registered in the list of the Sunni Central Waqf Board. Now, the process of amending the revenue records has sparked a dispute.

Consequently, the High Court has directed the petitioner to present their case through the statutory process (before the authorities).
