The Allahabad High Court has dismissed the petition of an LLB student from Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (Kanpur University) and imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on her. The student had claimed that the university had given her only 182 marks out of 500 in the examination, while according to her, she should have received 499 marks.
A single bench of Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery, calling the student's arguments baseless, stated that “the student should focus on her studies instead of wasting time in court.” The court also remarked that such petitions unnecessarily consume the court's time.
According to reports, the student had previously filed around 10 petitions, including for re-evaluation and special appeals, expressing dissatisfaction with her examination results. An inquiry committee constituted by the university examined the student's OMR sheet and confirmed that she had obtained a total of only 181 marks.
The court ordered the student to deposit the fine of ₹20,000 into the account of the High Court Legal Services Committee within 15 days.
