Method for making Almond Halwa – Step by Step

1. Soaking and Peeling Almonds

First, soak 200 grams of almonds in water overnight. If you need to make it quickly, you can soak them in hot water for 1-2 hours. In the morning or after the specified time, slightly heat the almonds while boiling. This will make their skins come off very easily. The skin comes off with a touch.

2. Grinding the Almonds

Put the peeled almonds in a mixer and grind them with the help of 1-2 tablespoons of water. Make sure the paste is neither too fine nor too coarse. Halwa tastes better with coarsely ground almonds, so leave it slightly grainy.

3. Roasting in Ghee

Now take a thick-bottomed pan and heat 3-4 tablespoons of ghee in it. Add the ground almonds and fry on medium heat, stirring constantly. This step determines the taste and color of the halwa. When the almonds turn golden brown and start giving off a light aroma, start the next step.

4. Adding Milk and Saffron

Now, slowly add 1 cup of milk and keep stirring constantly so that no lumps form. If you have soaked the saffron in milk earlier, add it now. Saffron not only adds color to the halwa but also enhances its fragrance and medicinal properties.

5. Adding Sugar and Cardamom

Now add sugar to the halwa according to your preference. Usually, 1 cup of sugar is sufficient, but you can adjust it to your taste. When the sugar melts and the halwa starts to thicken, add the ground cardamom. In just a few minutes, the halwa will start to release ghee and will be ready.
