Union Home Minister Amit Shah has leveled five serious charges against the DMK government and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. These include corruption, dynastic politics, anti-Hindu sentiment, suppression of protestors, and misleading the public regarding central funds.
New Delhi: BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of five major failings. He has held this government responsible for corruption, dynastic politics, anti-Hindu bias, repression, and misrepresentation of central funds. According to BJP leader A.N.S. Prasad, Amit Shah stated that the DMK government should be held accountable for these allegations.
Allegations of Corruption and Scams
Amit Shah described the DMK government as the most corrupt in the country. He stated that a 20 percent commission is taken for any work in Tamil Nadu. Questioning whether this constitutes pro-people governance, he pointed to the state’s reliance on TASMAC revenue and its debt. Shah accused Chief Minister Stalin and his ministers of being involved in major scams, alleging they accept bribes, manipulate government jobs, and have been implicated in money laundering, coal scams, and scams amounting to ₹6,000 crore.
Dynastic Politics and the Pursuit of a Chief Minister’s Post
The Home Minister accused Chief Minister Stalin of practicing personal and familial politics. He stated that Stalin’s sole objective is to make his son, Udayanidhi, the Chief Minister. Shah termed this dynastic politics, questioning how Tamil Nadu can progress when state power and resources are being used for the benefit of a single family.
Repression and Action Against Protesters
Amit Shah also accused the DMK government of suppressing protestors and ordinary citizens. He stated that sanitation workers, teachers, Anganwadi workers, doctors, and farmers are arrested in Tamil Nadu for protesting. They are imprisoned and subjected to violence. Shah labeled this as fascist-style politics, stating that the government is weakening democratic rights through its authoritarian approach.
Anti-Hindu Sentiment and Religious Restrictions
Amit Shah accused the DMK of anti-Hindu sentiment and restricting religious freedom. He stated that the government regularly insults Hinduism and Sanatana Dharma. He recounted instances at a rally where restrictions were placed on Hindu processions and idol immersions. Shah questioned whether the government can continue its repressive actions in the name of minority vote bank politics, weakening Hindu religious beliefs and disrupting communal harmony.
Misleading the Public Regarding Central Funds
Amit Shah accused the DMK of misleading the public about central funds. He stated that until 2012, when the DMK was part of the central government, Tamil Nadu received only ₹1.53 lakh crore. However, the Modi government has allocated ₹11 lakh crore for the state’s development from 2014 to 2024. Shah questioned whether this can be concealed through false statements.
Five Main Charges Against the DMK Government
Amit Shah has leveled five main charges against the DMK government and Chief Minister Stalin. First, corruption and major scams. Second, dynastic politics and the use of power for their family. Third, anti-Hindu sentiment and religious pressure. Fourth, repression of protestors and ordinary citizens. And fifth, misleading the public regarding central funds.
