The NDA has nominated C. P. Radhakrishnan for the post of Vice President. Home Minister Amit Shah stated that since the Prime Minister is from the West and the President from the East, it is natural to select the Vice President from the South. He also responded to questions about his connection with the RSS and dismissed the opposition's claims. The election will be held on September 9th.
New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah has shared important information regarding the Vice Presidential election to be held in the country on September 9th. He explained why the NDA nominated C. P. Radhakrishnan from South India as their candidate. Shah said that this decision was taken keeping in mind political balance and experience. He clarified that since the Prime Minister is from the West and North, and the President is from the East, it is natural for the Vice President to be from the South.
Shah also said that Radhakrishnan has extensive political and administrative experience. He has served as a Member of Parliament twice, has been a party president, and has also served as the Governor of various states such as Jharkhand, Telangana, Puducherry, and Maharashtra.
Reason for Choosing a Candidate from the South and Political Balance
Amit Shah refuted the speculations being made about choosing a candidate from the South. Some people were seeing it as a way to increase the BJP's influence in Tamil Nadu, but Shah termed it completely irrelevant. He said that the selection for the post of Vice President is not done for political gains in a particular state or region.
Shah emphasized, "The selection of the candidate for the post of Vice President has been done keeping in mind the broad political balance and experience of the country. C. P. Radhakrishnan's political and administrative experience makes him suitable for this post. Both his life and career are clean, so this selection is natural and justified."
Amit Shah's Statement on Radhakrishnan's RSS Connection
Regarding the questions being raised about Radhakrishnan's connection with the RSS, Amit Shah said that it is not a negative thing. He gave the example that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, and Amit Shah himself are also associated with the RSS. He said, "C. P. Radhakrishnan's association with the RSS is not a minus point in any way. This organization works for the service of the country and the benefit of this experience also goes to India's democracy."
Shah also said that Radhakrishnan's long administrative and political experience is the biggest reason for choosing him as the Vice President.
Radhakrishnan to Face Tough Competition from B. Sudarshan Reddy in the Vice Presidential Election
In the election to be held on September 9, the NDA has fielded C. P. Radhakrishnan, while the opposition has made former Judge B. Sudarshan Reddy their candidate. This contest is likely to be quite competitive.
Shah said that the election process will be completely transparent and democratic. Voting and results will be announced on the same day, which will prove to be an important turning point in Indian politics. He assured that all parties will get equal opportunities and a fair process in this election.
