Narrator Aniruddhacharya, responding to a viral video, stated that his words were presented out of context. He had advised both men and women to be of good character, but controversy was stirred by highlighting only a portion of his statement.
Aniruddhacharya: Renowned Sanatan Dharma preacher and narrator Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj is currently trending on social media, but this time, controversy seems to be deepening over his discourses. He clarified his position in an exclusive interview with NDTV regarding the dispute that arose from a recently viral 30-second video clip.
He claims that his statement was presented out of context, whereas he spoke for a full 6 minutes about character building, which was intended not only for women but also for men. However, some sections of the media and social media extracted only a portion of his statement, putting him in the dock.
My Statement Was Distorted
Aniruddhacharya stated plainly, "We only advised men and women to be of good character, but the media only took that part that could create controversy."
He said that the 30-second clip that caused the uproar is part of a 6-minute discourse. He questioned, "Now tell me, how can a 6-minute talk be understood in 30 seconds?"
Don't View Village Language with an Urban Perspective
He clarified the controversy surrounding some of the words used in his discourse, saying that the words he spoke were in the common language of the village. "In the village, the phrase 'muh maarna' (making advances) is part of common language, which implies promiscuity. My intention was neither to insult any woman nor to demean any man."
He also said that if there was any error in terms of language, he accepts it, but the sentiment and purpose were not wrong.
It's Not the Saints, But Sanatan That's Being Opposed
Aniruddhacharya directly attacked his critics, saying that it's not just opposition to the words of one saint or one person, but it is part of a well-planned conspiracy against Sanatan culture and tradition.
He stated,
"There was nothing objectionable in what Premanand Ji Maharaj said. Then why was he opposed? This clearly shows that it's not opposition to words, but opposition to saints and Sanatan."
Why is Live-In Relationship Being Glorified?
Amid the controversy over his statement, he also questioned the current social structure. "Why is live-in relationship being promoted in society? Is this part of our Indian culture? Should we not talk about character building?"
Aniruddhacharya believes that when he talks about character and morality, he is targeted. He said that this is not just an attack on religious views, but an attempt to weaken the fundamental structure of society.
