Launched in the US, these updated AirPods come with double the active noise cancellation, heart rate tracking, and a live translation feature. This feature is based on computational audio and Apple Intelligence, providing real-time translation of languages during conversations. Both users need to have AirPods Pro 3; however, if one user doesn't, the iPhone will assist by displaying a transcript on its screen. This feature is currently available in beta.
Live Translation Feature
Apple has confirmed that AirPods Pro 3 can perform live translation during conversations, although it is currently only available in beta. According to the company, this feature is based on computational audio and Apple Intelligence. Once enabled, users can easily understand the other language and convey their message to someone speaking a different language. For this to work, both individuals must possess AirPods Pro 3. If one person does not have AirPods, the iPhone will take over the task and display a transcript on its screen.
Long Conversations Will Be Easier
Apple stated that if both users have AirPods Pro 3 with live translation support, even long conversations will become easier. The active noise cancellation feature adjusts the voice of the other person, allowing users to focus better on the translation.
Current Language Support
The live translation feature in AirPods Pro 3 is currently available in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. The company has announced that support for Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese languages will be added by the end of this year. Users will have to wait a little longer for translation support in Hindi.
