Delhi Police foils major terror plot, arrests 5 terrorists. IED-making tools recovered. Investigation reveals their links to ISIS and threat to national security.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police has foiled a major terrorist attack plot. Five suspected terrorists have been arrested from different states, in whose possession essential parts for making IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) were recovered. The police stated that the arrested terrorists were associated with a module linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) and were planning to carry out terrorist activities in India.
Eight Terrorists Arrested, Including Ashar Danish and Aftab
According to the police, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police, in coordination with the Jharkhand ATS and Ranchi Police, conducted a coordinated operation in Ranchi and Delhi. The main accused, Ashar Danish, was arrested during a raid at Tabarak Hostel in Ranchi. Danish hails from Bokaro and had been under the surveillance of security agencies for a long time.
Another suspect, Aftab, was apprehended from the Nizamuddin area of Delhi. In this operation, the Jharkhand and Delhi Police jointly detained at least eight other suspects. The roles of all the arrested terrorists are currently under investigation.
Materials Recovered from Arrested Terrorists
The police reported that parts used in making IEDs were recovered from the arrested terrorists. These include chemical and electronic components. Additionally, laptops, mobile phones, and other digital material were also seized by the police.
Security agencies believe that the objective of these terrorists was to carry out attacks during the upcoming festive season and at public places. The recovered materials clearly indicate that all these terrorists were actively working to advance the ISIS agenda in India.
Interrogation and Further Investigation
Interrogation of the arrested terrorists is ongoing. Security agencies are investigating their complete network and connections. Preliminary investigations suggest that these terrorists were in contact with other members of the ISIS-inspired network.
Officials stated that a detailed analysis of the roles and plans of all the arrested terrorists is being conducted. This will help in preventing other potential attacks. Security agencies are ensuring that any form of terrorist incident can be thwarted in a timely manner.
