Names, Directions, and Significance of Ashta Bhairava
- Asitanga Bhairava – Lord of the East, whose color is blue. He holds a skull cup (khappar) and trident in his hands. His worship increases courage and valor.
- Ruru Bhairava – Lord of the South, the giver of knowledge and wisdom. He holds a veena (lute) and trident. Worshipped for success in education and the arts.
- Chanda Bhairava – The deity of war and victory, representing the South direction. He is worshipped for victory over enemies.
- Krodha Bhairava – Lord of the Southwest direction, whose worship destroys diseases and obstacles.
- Unmatta Bhairava – Lord of the West direction, a symbol of devotion and detachment. He bestows mental peace and spiritual progress.
- Kapala Bhairava – Lord of the Northwest direction, the master of time and death. Worshipped for longevity and timely accomplishment of tasks.
- Bheeshana Bhairava – Lord of the North direction, who removes fear and crises.

Worship Method of Ashta Bhairava
- Bathe in the morning and wear clean clothes.
- Offer black or red flowers, unbroken rice (akshat), incense, and a lamp in front of the idol of Bhairava.
- Offer an oil lamp or a coconut.
- Offer a bhog (offering) of black sesame seeds, urad dal (black lentil), and coconut.
- Feeding a dog bread, flour, or sweets is considered auspicious.
