A high-tech nursery project costing approximately ₹1.82 crore is set to be established in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, aimed at strengthening environmental conservation and promoting green development across the region.
The initiative is part of government plans to preserve and expand green cover amid rapid urbanisation. The nursery is intended to contribute to environmental balance not only within the city but across surrounding areas.
The facility will employ modern scientific methods instead of conventional techniques. Planned features include greenhouse-based infrastructure, controlled temperature systems, automated irrigation, drip systems, advanced seed processing, and digital monitoring tools to support plant growth in a regulated environment.
Experts state that plants cultivated in such controlled conditions are ber and more resistant to diseases. This is expected to improve the success rate of plantation drives, reducing plant loss compared to conventional nurseries.
A key objective is the large-scale production of high-quality saplings for plantation across the city and nearby regions. Given Ayodhya’s status as a religious and tourist destination attracting large numbers of visitors annually, enhanced greenery is expected to support environmental conditions and public health.
The nursery will produce a range of plant varieties, including fruit-bearing, shade-providing, medicinal, and ornamental species. Special emphasis will be placed on species suited to local climate and soil conditions to ensure durability and low maintenance.
The project is expected to generate employment during both construction and operational phases. Opportunities will arise for technical experts, labourers, horticulture specialists, and management personnel, potentially expanding employment options for local youth.
High-quality plants produced at the nursery may be made available to farmers, potentially improving crop quality and productivity. The initiative is also expected to support the promotion of horticulture.
Environmental experts note that such projects are increasingly necessary in the context of climate change, pollution, and declining green cover. Increased tree plantation and conservation are expected to contribute to improved air quality, temperature regulation, water conservation, and biodiversity.
Authorities have stated that saplings from the nursery will be used extensively in plantation drives across schools, colleges, government institutions, roadsides, and public spaces to expand green coverage in the region.
A phased implementation strategy is being prepared. Initial stages will include land selection, design, and infrastructure development, followed by installation of technical systems and commencement of plant production.
