Ayodhya: Sensation spread in Ayodhya's Rudauli area after the bodies of a mother and daughter were found in a pond. The deceased were identified as Mamta Gupta and her 1.5-year-old daughter, Pihu.
This incident occurred in Jahangirabad Mazre Akhtiyarpur (village).
The deceased, Mamta, was married to Shivkaran in 2014.
Allegations of dowry demands and harassment (the pressure she faced) were constant since the marriage.
In 2018, Mamta had filed a case of dowry harassment. However, after a settlement, she was sent back to her in-laws' house.
Mamta alleged that she faced harassment from her in-laws' side since the marriage — issues like not being given food continued.
Her daughter Pihu was born on June 7, 2024. It is alleged that the behavior of her in-laws became even harsher after this.
On the morning of the incident, Mamta and Pihu were reported missing since 4 AM. Later, their mobile phone was found switched off. When Mamta's parental family reached the village, their bodies were found in a nearby pond.
Her parental family has accused foul play, claiming it was not merely a suicide or an unfortunate accident.
The police have stated that an investigation into the matter is underway.
The incident has created a situation of grief and tension across the entire area.
