It is alleged that these individuals entrapped gaming app users — initially showing wins on small stakes to build trust, only to later cause them to lose on larger bets.
Bank accounts and mobile phones linked to the accused have been recovered.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IT Act and initiated an investigation.
It is alleged that the gang lured people in the name of gaming — building trust by showing wins on small stakes initially.
Later, people were defrauded by losing on large bets.
The gang maintained several bank accounts where the fraudulently obtained funds were deposited.
The investigation into the case is being conducted under the Information Technology Act (IT Act).
