Bihar Cabinet Approves Women Assistance Scheme DA Hike and Development Projects in Final Meeting

The Bihar cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar approved a ₹2 lakh financial assistance scheme for women, a Dearness Allowance increase for employees and pensioners, and multiple infrastructure and employment-related decisions during its final meeting.

The final cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna brought together a series of decisions affecting governance, administration, and upcoming electoral considerations in Bihar. The meeting reflected both a review of the government’s tenure and an indication of its policy direction.

Ministers present at the meeting expressed appreciation for the Chief Minister’s leadership. The proceedings were marked by a focus on decisions with long-term administrative and economic implications.

One of the key decisions taken was the approval of an economic assistance scheme for women, under which financial support of up to ₹2 lakh will be provided. The government stated that the scheme is intended to support economically weaker women and enable them to pursue self-employment, small businesses, and household industries. The initiative is expected to have an impact in rural areas, where access to financial resources is limited.

The government indicated that the objective of the scheme is to increase women’s economic participation and facilitate broader social change through direct financial support.

The cabinet also approved an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners. The decision comes amid rising inflation and is expected to benefit a large number of employees and their families. The increase in DA is anticipated to enhance purchasing capacity.

In addition, the cabinet approved multiple development projects focused on strengthening infrastructure, including roads, bridges, urban development, and rural infrastructure. Discussions included expanding road connectivity in rural areas, improving electricity and water supply, and strengthening education and healthcare services.

The meeting also included decisions on the creation of new government posts and measures aimed at increasing employment opportunities. These steps are intended to address concerns related to employment among youth.

The government also referred to its work over recent years, citing development initiatives undertaken during its tenure and reiterating its focus on continuing such efforts.

The cabinet meeting concluded with a set of decisions that are expected to influence administrative functioning and policy implementation in the state. The implementation and public response to these measures are expected to become clearer over time.
