Bihar Government: The Bihar government has launched the Chief Minister's Women Employment Scheme to empower women economically and in the employment sector. Under this scheme, women associated with Jeevika will directly receive ₹10,000 each in their bank accounts. This amount will be provided as initial support to help them start their own businesses. The objective of the scheme is to strengthen the economic status of women in rural and urban areas and to encourage them towards self-employment.

Who Can Benefit

Only women associated with Jeevika will be eligible to benefit from the scheme. Women who are not already part of a Jeevika group will need to join first. To do so, they must apply at the designated meeting of their Gram Sangathan (Village Organization) or Nagar Parishad (Municipal Council). Only after becoming a member will they be eligible for the scheme.

Application Process

The application process began on September 7th in rural areas, while applications have been accepted from September 10th in urban areas. Women can apply online through their Jeevika group or by visiting the official website. To simplify the application process, Gram Sangathans have been designated as application centers, allowing women from every village to apply easily without having to travel long distances.

Fund Disbursement Through DBT

Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive funds directly into their bank accounts. As a first installment, one woman from each eligible family will receive ₹10,000. This financial assistance will help women start their own ventures and strengthen their economic standing.

Action Against Demanding Illegal Money

As soon as the scheme was implemented, many women started applying to get themselves included in the groups. However, in the meantime, complaints have surfaced regarding some individuals demanding illegal payments from women to include their names. BPM Vipul Pandey stated that if anyone demands money for name inclusion, they should report it immediately. The application process for women already associated with a group will be completed through their respective Gram Sangathans.

Monitoring and Progress Assessment

Jeevika personnel will continuously monitor the scheme. After six months, the progress of the beneficiaries will be assessed. If necessary, women may receive additional assistance of up to ₹2 lakh. This amount will be for those women who wish to progress further in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Role of Jeevika Mitras

In Dehri block, 20,968 Jeevika Didis and 5,200 women from urban areas have applied. 88 Gram Sangathans are holding special meetings through 1,729 groups. Jeevika Mitras have so far filled 9,500 online entry forms. With the help of these officials, women will not face any difficulties in the application process, and the benefits of the scheme will reach all beneficiaries.
