Bihar Government Implements Domicile Rule for Teacher Recruitment Starting with TRE-4

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to implement the domicile rule in teacher recruitment. This rule will be effective from TRE-4. This will give preference to the youth of Bihar in government jobs. Instructions have been issued to the education department.

Bihar: A new decision by the Bihar government is set to provide significant relief to the state's youth seeking government teacher jobs. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed the implementation of the domicile policy in teacher recruitment from TRE-4 itself. Under this, permanent residents of Bihar will now be given priority. Let's understand the impact, process, and political background of this decision in detail.

A Major Initiative by Nitish Kumar in an Election Year

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while announcing this on social media platform X on Monday, wrote that his government is constantly working to improve the education system. In the same vein, a decision has now been taken to prioritize local candidates in teacher recruitment.

He wrote – "Since the formation of the government in November 2005, we have been continuously working to improve the education system. The Education Department has been instructed to make necessary amendments to the relevant rules to prioritize the residents (domicile) of Bihar in the recruitment of teachers. This will be implemented from TRE-4 itself."

New Rule to be Implemented from TRE-4

The fourth phase of TRE, i.e., Teacher Recruitment Exam, TRE-4, will be conducted in the year 2025. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also clarified that TRE-5 will be held in the year 2026 and STET (Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test) will be organized before that.

The implementation of the domicile policy from TRE-4 means that candidates from Bihar will now be given clear preference for teacher positions in the state.

Clear Instructions Given to the Education Department

Nitish Kumar has directed the Education Department to make necessary changes to the existing recruitment rules so that this domicile policy can be implemented. This will directly benefit the youth who are permanent residents of Bihar and have been preparing for competitive exams for years.

Domicile Policy Already Implemented for Women

It is noteworthy that the Bihar government had implemented the domicile policy for women just a few days ago. Under this, now only women from Bihar will get the benefit of 35 percent reservation in government jobs.

Earlier, women from other states also used to get this benefit, but after the new rule, only women residing in Bihar will be eligible for this reservation. Women from other states will be considered in the General Category.

Youth of Bihar will Benefit in Employment

With the implementation of this new policy, the youth of Bihar will get more opportunities in the recruitment of teacher positions. Until now, candidates from outside states also participated in these recruitments in large numbers, making the competition very difficult.

Time for Preparation for TRE-4 and TRE-5

The government has fixed the tentative date for TRE-4 as the year 2025 and the tentative date for TRE-5 as the year 2026. This means that candidates will have sufficient time to prepare. Before this, STET will be organized, which is an important part of the teacher recruitment process.
