CBSE Central Sector Scholarship: Good news for students who have passed their 12th exams in 2025 and have been admitted to college. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the application process for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for the academic year 2025-26. The purpose of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker sections for higher education.
Where and How to Apply?
Applications for this scheme can be made on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). The last date for application submission is set as October 31, 2025. Students should apply in a timely manner to avoid being deprived of the scholarship due to technical errors or lack of documents.
Who Can Benefit from This Scholarship?
Students who meet the following criteria can avail of this scheme:
- Those who have recently passed the CBSE board's 12th class with good marks (Top 20 percentile).
- Those enrolled in a regular course under a recognized institution in undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) programs.
- Whose family's annual income is less than ₹8 lakh.
- Students who are not simultaneously availing the benefits of any other government scholarship.
How Much Scholarship Amount Will Be Awarded?
- Undergraduate (UG) students will be awarded a scholarship of up to ₹12,000 each year.
- Postgraduate (PG) students will be awarded an amount of up to ₹20,000 each year.
This amount will be transferred directly to the students' bank accounts.
Opportunity for Previous Years' Students Too
This time, not only for new students but also for students already receiving the scholarship, the option of renewal is open. This includes students who:
- Were in the first year in 2021 and are now in their fourth year
- Were in the second year in 2022 and are now in their third year
- Were in their first year in 2023 and are now in their second year
- Took admission in college in 2024 and will now go to their second year
These students also need to complete their renewal applications in time.

- Get verification from your college or university
- Submit the application form and keep a copy for yourself
Why is Verification Important?
CBSE has clarified that no application will be accepted without verification from the college/university. Therefore, students should ensure that their institution is registered on the portal and completes the verification in time. Delay in verification may result in the rejection of the application.
Precautions to Take While Applying
- Fill in all the information correctly and clearly while filling out the application form.
- Make sure there are no errors in the name, date of birth, bank details, and Aadhaar number.
- Scan and upload all necessary documents such as mark sheets, income certificates, and proof of admission from the institution.
- Providing duplicate or fake documents may result in rejection of the application and also legal action.
