The investigation into the death of ASP Akash Dubey, who was martyred in a pressure IED blast in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, has been handed over to the Special Investigation Agency (SIA). The state government ordered the transfer of the case to the SIA to thoroughly investigate the attack and expose the network of Naxalite perpetrators.
The SIA has formed a special task force for this purpose, led by an SP-rank officer and including ASPs, TIs, SIs, and IT experts. This team will not only conduct forensic investigations at the crime scene but will also investigate the Naxalite network, sleeper cells, local support, and IED-making methods in suspicious areas.
Bijapur Blast Claims Akash's Life
Three days ago, ASP Akash Dubey was martyred when he was caught in a pressure IED planted by Naxalites in the Gangalur police station area of Bijapur district. The attack occurred as he was returning from a search operation. The blast was so powerful that Akash died instantly, while two other soldiers were injured. Akash Dubey was considered one of Chhattisgarh Police's rising and fearless officers. His martyrdom shook not only the department but the entire state.
SIA Team to Reconstruct the Incident
The SIA team has arrived at the scene and is preparing to reconstruct the blast pattern, soil depth, detonation mechanism, and timing. The investigation will determine how long ago the pressure IED was planted and whether any local individuals assisted. A senior SIA officer stated, "Our team will now scrutinize mobile tower locations, walkie-talkie frequencies, and tribal contacts used by the Naxalites to carry out the operation. This was not just an IED blast; it was a well-planned strategy."
Digital Evidence and Wireless Activities Under Scrutiny
Technical assistance is being sought from NTRO and IB to investigate digital movements, suspicious calls, and wireless radio interceptions before and after the blast. Specifically, the investigation is focusing on whether information about the attack was leaked beforehand by a police informant. The SIA also suspects that the Naxalites used high-sensitivity pressure sensors in this attack, far more sensitive than previously encountered technology. This clearly indicates that Naxalites are upgrading themselves with new technologies, moving beyond older methods.
Government and Police Administration Respond
Chief Minister Vishweshwar Bhagat termed the attack a "direct assault on Chhattisgarh's internal security" and stated that the martyrdom of heroes like Akash would not be in vain. The perpetrators will be found and brought to justice. The state government is providing the SIA with all necessary resources. DGP RK Mishra also stated in a press conference that Akash Dubey was not just a police officer but a beacon of hope for the state. Whoever is involved in this attack, whether hiding in the jungle or the city, will be found.
Social media users shared emotional posts about Akash Dubey's bravery. Many young people wrote that the country needed true soldiers like Akash, but cowardly attackers took him from us.
