Politics in Bihar has heated up over the rising crime rate. Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar government regarding law and order. He not only expressed concern over recent criminal incidents but also bly criticized the statement of the ADG of Bihar Police.
Crimes Increase Before the Monsoon
Chirag Paswan bly criticized the ADG's statement in which he said that incidents of crime increase before the monsoon. Terming this statement as an attempt to hide the administration's failure, Chirag said, "How can the ADG make such an irresponsible statement? Saying that crimes increase before the monsoon is a direct accusation against the food providers (farmers). You are not only covering up but also shirking responsibility, which is completely unacceptable."
He questioned how the public could maintain faith in the administration when officials make such statements.
Administration is Responsible Even for a Single Incident
Speaking to the media, Chirag expressed concern over the recent criminal incidents, saying that the law and order situation in Bihar has become worrying. One after another, crimes are happening that no one can imagine. If even a single criminal incident occurs, the administration should take responsibility for it.
He also targeted the opposition, saying that those who led the "Jungle Raj" are now pointing fingers. Chirag mentioned the murder of a minister in PMCH in 1998, asking, "Whose government was in power at that time? Shots were fired then too, and a minister was killed. What will be said about the government of that time?"
Advice to the Nitish Government
Advising the Nitish government to strengthen law and order, Chirag said that the state government must ensure that the people of Bihar regain a sense of security. This is not just a matter of policing but also a matter of the government's priority.
Dismissing the questions raised by the opposition on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent Motihari rally, Chirag said that whenever the Prime Minister comes to the state, he brings the gift of development. His priority is to make Bihar a developed state. Law and order is a state government subject, so saying that the Prime Minister is not concerned is completely wrong and misleading.
