The results of the election for four Rajya Sabha seats from Karnataka have been declared, with the Congress securing three seats. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leader Pawan Khera, and Mansoor Ali Khan were elected unopposed. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate M. Nagaraj was also elected unopposed.
Voting was not required as only four candidates remained in the fray after the nomination process for the four vacant Rajya Sabha seats was completed. Since the number of candidates was equal to the number of available seats, all four candidates were declared elected unopposed in accordance with electoral rules.
The outcome reflects the current political position of parties in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. With the Congress in government in the state, the party secured three of the four seats, while the BJP retained one seat through the election of M. Nagaraj.
The unopposed election of Mallikarjun Kharge to the Rajya Sabha places the Congress President in the Upper House of Parliament. Pawan Khera, the party’s national spokesperson, was also elected to the Rajya Sabha. Mansoor Ali Khan completed the Congress slate of successful candidates.
No party fielded additional candidates beyond the available strength required for the four seats. As a result, no electoral contest emerged and all candidates were declared elected without a vote.
