Couple Assaulted and Robbed Over CCTV Installation in Haryana's Panipat

A couple was assaulted in Haryana's Panipat district over the installation of CCTV cameras outside their home. The accused dragged them onto the street, kicked, punched, and verbally abused them. During the assault, their gold jewelry was also looted. Police have registered a case against 7 people in this matter and started an investigation.

Panipat: In Risalu village, Panipat district, Haryana, on August 17, a couple, Manisha and her husband Jagmohan, were assaulted over the installation of a CCTV camera outside their house. The accused dragged them onto the street, beat them with kicks, punches, and sticks, verbally abused them, and stole a gold ring. The dispute was related to land and was already pending in court. Police at Sector-29 Police Station have registered a case against 7 accused and started an investigation.

Dispute over CCTV Installation

Manisha told the police that on the morning of August 17, when she and her husband were at home, the accused started verbally abusing them outside their house. The accused threatened, "We will break the cameras that have been installed."

When the couple tried to explain peacefully, the accused grabbed them and threw them onto the street. During this time, Aman, Gaurav, Santram, Bimla, and Pushpendra assaulted them with kicks, punches, and sticks. The entire incident was recorded on the neighbors' CCTV, which confirmed the incident.

Looting and Death Threats

Manisha stated that during the incident, a gold ring was forcibly taken from her hand. The accused also threatened to kill her children and rape Manisha.

The couple says that her husband, Jagmohan, is the sole heir, and his uncles are trying to seize their property. This dispute is already pending in court, and the court has issued a stay order.

Police Registered a Case and Started Investigation

Police at Sector-29 Police Station have registered a case against seven accused based on the complaint of Manisha and Jagmohan and started an investigation. Police said that they are now also focusing on identifying and arresting other potential accused involved in the incident.

The SSP stated that the police are seriously investigating the matter and taking special steps to ensure the safety of the victim couple.
