Delhi Fire: A major fire suddenly erupted on the first floor of a shop in Sadar Bazaar, one of Delhi's busiest wholesale markets, on Saturday afternoon. Panic spread throughout the area as soon as the incident was reported. The fire department received a call about the fire at 3:50 PM, following which 10 fire engines were immediately dispatched to the spot.

Swift Action by the Fire Department

Firefighters immediately reached the spot and began efforts to extinguish the fire. Considering the intensity of the fire, a rescue operation was also initiated. The smoke and flames rising from the shop were spreading so rapidly that there was a risk of damage to the surrounding shops as well. Firefighters were engaged in controlling the fire while also working to safely evacuate people trapped inside.

Incident in a Crowded Area

Sadar Bazaar is a major wholesale market in Delhi, where thousands of people come to shop every day. The market was already crowded on Saturday, and the fire further increased the chaos. Local residents and shopkeepers present at the spot cooperated in the initial rescue efforts, but the administration urged people not to gather near the scene so as not to obstruct the fire and relief operations.

Potential Damage to Shops

The fire broke out on the first floor of the shop, where a stock of clothes and general items was present. It is feared that goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt to ashes in the fire. Also, the possibility of damage to the surrounding shops cannot be ruled out. The exact assessment of the damage is currently underway.

Investigation into the Cause of the Fire Begins

A joint team of the fire department and the police has started investigating the cause of the fire. According to preliminary estimates, a short circuit or faulty electrical wiring may have caused the accident. However, precise information will only be available after the investigation report.
