Diwali Box Office: 'Thama' Delivers Stellar Opening, 'Kantara Chapter 1' Maintains Strong Hold

Amidst a flurry of new film releases in cinemas on the occasion of Diwali, Maddock Films' horror-comedy 'Thama' delivered a stellar performance on its opening day. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the film garnered significant audience attention and began its box office run with double-digit earnings.

Entertainment News: Maddock's new film 'Thama' from its horror-comedy universe, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, has been released in cinemas and made a good start on its opening day. This film has proven to be the best opener of Ayushmann Khurrana's career. The low-budget film 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat', released on the same day, also received a good response from audiences and performed well.

However, despite the release of two new films, 'Kantara 2' has not lost its popularity or box office luster. The film continues to draw audiences in large numbers to cinemas.

'Thama' Blazes Through

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, 'Thama' earned 24 crore rupees on its first day. This has proven to be the biggest opening of Ayushmann Khurrana's career. The film's budget is reportedly around 150 crore rupees. Stars like Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are also in the film, further enhancing its strength. Released during the festival season and on the occasion of Diwali, this horror-comedy film successfully managed to draw audiences to cinemas.

'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' Also Shows Its Mettle

Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' was also released on Diwali. This small-budget film collected 8.5 crore rupees. According to media reports, the film's budget was 30 crore rupees. Although this film clashed with 'Thama' and the previously released 'Kantara Chapter 1', it carved out its own niche on opening day and generated excitement among audiences.

'Kantara Chapter 1' Continues Strong Performance

Rishab Shetty's film 'Kantara Chapter 1' remained unaffected by the release of new films. On Tuesday, the film earned 12 crore rupees. Thus, even on its 20th day, the film continued to rake in double-digit earnings. The film's total box office collection now stands at 547.15 crore rupees, making it one of the biggest hits of the year.

'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' Update

The shine of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's film 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' has now slowly faded. Even on Tuesday, the day of Diwali, the film could only collect 50 lakh rupees. Its total collection now stands at approximately 59.80 crore rupees. The film is now gradually nearing its departure from cinemas.
