Donald Trump Hints at India Visit in 2025, Praises PM Modi and Strengthening Bilateral Ties

U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that he might visit India next year. He praised PM Modi and stated that trade, energy, and security cooperation between the two countries is continuously strengthening.

India-US Relation: U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that he may visit India next year. During a conversation with journalists in the Oval Office of the White House, Trump said that his discussions with India are going well. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he called him a ‘great man’ and stated that his relations with Modi are friendly.

Trade with India 

Trump stated that India has largely stopped buying oil from Russia. He mentioned that trade and energy discussions between India and the U.S. are progressing very well. He also noted that Prime Minister Modi wants him to visit India and that this is being considered. Trump said, “I’m going to go. I had a great trip with Prime Minister Modi in India. He’s a great man.” When asked if he would come to India next year, Trump replied, “Yes, maybe.”

India to Host Quad Summit

India will host the Quad Summit next year. Leaders from the U.S., Australia, and Japan will also participate in this summit. Last year's 2024 summit was held in Wilmington, Delaware, U.S. However, the dates for the summit in India have not yet been announced. It is expected that this summit will discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and global stability.

Trump's Claim in India-Pakistan Dispute

During discussions with journalists, Trump once again claimed that he played a role in preventing a potential war between India and Pakistan in May. He said, “I ended eight wars, five or six of which were through tariffs. If you look at India and Pakistan, they were starting to fight. They are both nuclear powers and were firing at each other.”

Trump stated that he warned India and Pakistan that if they continued to fight, the U.S. would impose tariffs on them. He claimed that this measure prevented war between the two countries within 24 hours. Trump described tariffs as “a great means of national defense” and an effective way to control global conflicts.

Trump's View Towards India

Trump has repeatedly expressed his positive outlook towards India. He stated that his relationship with Prime Minister Modi is friendly, and both countries are continuously discussing ways to enhance mutual cooperation. He emphasized the importance of U.S.-India cooperation in the energy, security, and trade sectors.
