After being placed on a ventilator in the ICU in critical condition, the ICU had to be evacuated for victims of the 9/11 attacks. In this difficult situation, Sumbul had to care for her mother herself. This experience changed the direction of her life.

Following this, she became more deeply involved in the medical field. While working in hospitals in Delhi, she faced numerous challenges, but she did not lose heart. Her Indian connection was evident here as well. Although Sumbul Desai was born in Sweden, she has a deep connection to Indian culture and family. India has played a significant role in her education, career, and life inspirations. Today, she has become an inspiration for the youth of India, demonstrating that progress is possible even in the face of adversity.
